How reservations affect available stock
When the reserved quantity is deducted from the available warehouse balance.
The Do not deduct reserved stock from available balance option determines whether reserved Items reduce the quantity available for other sales.
For example, if there are 10 units in stock and 3 are reserved:
- if No is selected, the available balance is 7;
- if Yes is selected, all 10 units can be considered in documents.
Choose No if the reservation is intended to prevent Items from being sold to another customer. Select Yes only if reservations in your process are for informational purposes and should not restrict other documents.
This change may affect the Items list, maximum document line quantities, and warehouse summaries. After saving, check active reservations and relevant warehouses. Also, verify whether any external accounting system calculates reservations in the same way.
The Item is in stock but less is available for sale
Available quantity may differ from total stock because of reservations and the selected warehouse.
- Compare the same Item and warehouse. Do not compare a total across several warehouses with the quantity in the warehouse selected for one document.
- Find the reserving document and its Item line. Check the reserved quantity and whether the reservation remains active under your workflow.
- With an administrator, check the reservation setting described above. Do not change it solely to permit one sale: the setting also affects other documents.
- If accounting software is connected, separately compare its warehouse, stock update, and reservation rules. An Item being present in Hanna does not establish the same available quantity in another system.
For example, ten units in a warehouse with three reserved can mean seven available there, not missing goods. Send Support the Item, warehouse, and reserving-document links, displayed and expected quantities, and comparison time.
